Police are investigating a shooting at a chicken processing plant in southern Mississippi that left one person injured. Collins Police Chief Joey Ponder said the department received a call around 4:10 p.m. Monday of an active shooter at Sanderson Farms. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the back, authorities said. The man’s name has not been released.

A man from Supai Village was sentenced Monday to one year in prison for his guilty plea to a charge of assaulting a federal officer. Police arrested a man after he threatened a teenaged McDonald's employee with a fixed-blade knife and forced her into the men's bathroom where he sexually assaulted her. According to court documents, 37-year-old Ricky Flowers entered a McDonald's on Jan. 18 where he asked the employee to use an electrical outlet to charge his cell phone, then showed a fixed-blade knife and threatened her.

Muncie police are investigating a person who was shot just after midnight Tuesday morning. According to police, the victim was walking in the area of Macedonia and E. 18th, just south of Ball Corporation Park, when he was approached by another person who confronted him and then proceeded to shoot him. Police report that no type of robbery or other assault occurred.
Residents were in disbelief after Fairfax police said about six males in their late teens to early 20s attacked a man next to an apartment building in the Avant Apartments complex just before 3:00 Sunday afternoon. “They were able to apprehend two of the five to six suspects. Those two are currently being detained and being interviewed by our detectives. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”, said Fairfax Lieutenant Ely Corey.

A woman was shot Monday night in KCMO and now has life-threatening injuries, police say. KCPD spokesman Darin Snapp said the shooting occurred just after 7 p.m. near 39th Street and Jackson in Kansas City, Missouri. The woman was taken to the 3300 block of Jackson, which is where officers found her.
A Simpson County couple were killed Monday in a house fire. Firefighters said the home on Rodney Sullivan Road was engulfed in flames when they arrived about 5:30 a.m. After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of Raymond Hamilton and his wife, Martha Hamilton, were found inside the house, Simpson County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Chris Wallace said.

Two men wounded in Sunday Oakland shootings
At least one person was killed in a crash Monday morning in Humphreys County. The crash happened before 9 a.m. in the 4800 block of Clydeton Road.
A man charged with kidnapping, raping and killing a Tennessee nursing student could plead guilty in the case. Judge C. Creed McGinley has given prosecutors and lawyers for John Dylan Adams a Monday deadline to reach an agreement that would let him avoid trial in the death of Holly Bobo. A hearing is scheduled in Savannah, Tennessee. If a plea agreement has not been reached, McGinley has said Adams will go to trial, scheduled for May 29.
Asheville police said two men were arrested and drugs and weapons were seized at the end of a two-month investigation into crack cocaine sales. The Asheville Police Department said its Drug Suppression and Housing Units conducted a search warrant on January 12 at an apartment on Camby Street
