A Vermont man and his girlfriend have been charged with neglect, manslaughter and Medicare fraud after authorities say his severely disabled son died of septic shock from infected bed sores. Jeffrey Kittredge, 51, and Jennifer Cote, 42, of Montpelier, pleaded not guilty last week to charges in the July 2016 death of 20-year-old Jeffrey A. Kittredge II.

The shooting happened at the Marathon gas station on Johns Road. Police said the suspect hid in the bushes before he came out and attempted to rob someone in the parking lot. According to police, the victim, who was armed, exchanged gunfire with the suspect. It's unclear who shot first. Both the victim and suspect were injured during the exchange of gunfire.

Las Vegas: The Clark County coroner has identified the man who died last week after he was found laying in the street in downtown Las Vegas. Police said on Nov. 15 a passerby found 32-year-old Eric Thomas suffering gunshot wounds near B Street and Van Buren Avenue. Thomas was taken to the hospital, but later died. His death was ruled a homicide.

New Kensington: man accused of fatally shooting a rookie police officer in western Pennsylvania is in custody. The Pennsylvania State Police on Tuesday announced the apprehension of 29-year-old Rahmael Sal Holt. Details of the arrest are to be released in a news conference later Tuesday.

Davenport: A man died and two Davenport police officers were injured in a weekend shooting. The Scott County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Matthew Tobin was killed in the shooting, which occurred after officers responded about 5 a.m. Sunday to a burglary report
Rhode Island State Police have recovered evidence from a pickup truck driven by a man shot and killed by Providence police that could explain why the driver fled. The Providence Journal reported that state police seized drug paraphernalia and a big screen television from the truck driven by Joseph Santos.
