Commercial structure fire - 85400 block of Grapefruit Boulevard in Coachella. Firefighters on-scene of a large commercial structure fire. First arriving unit reported cardboard boxes on fire with extension into the building and a 2nd alarm was requested.
Firefighters are working to control the fire in a 50,000 square foot vegetable packing plant. Approximately 53 firefighters are at scene and more resources are expected to be added as the days goes on and heats up for crew rotation and safety.
Firefighters remain on scene working to extinguish the blaze. Four firefighters have been transported by ground with minor injuries. Road closures remain as fire resources continue to work in the area.
